Our Story & The New Center
From a small space to a growing vision for the Bronx.

A Community's Vision
Every great community begins with a seed of faith and a shared need. The MAS Bronx Muslim Center's story is one of perseverance, vision, and a community that has grown from a handful of dedicated individuals to a vibrant movement. Our roots trace back to 1993, when the Center was established under the umbrella of the Muslim American Society (MAS) movement. In those early days, the community operated out of a small, rented space at our current location on Rhinelander Avenue, a space that could accommodate fewer than 175 congregants. As the Muslim population in the Bronx grew, our little masjid quickly became overcrowded. Worshippers often spilled into the hallways or onto the sidewalks for Friday prayers, forcing us to hold multiple services to accommodate everyone. It was a testament to the community's dedication, but it also highlighted a pressing need for a permanent, expansive home.
The New Facility
The planned four-story, 32,000 square foot center will accommodate over 2,000 worshippers, featuring prayer halls, classrooms, meeting areas, and future plans for a cafeteria and rooftop seating.
Current Status
The project is in the exterior envelope phase, focusing on installing the roof, waterproofing, and exterior doors and windows. The center is fundraising for this phase with a goal to open the new mosque by the end of 2026.
