Stage 1 Construction Begins

Stage 1 Construction Begins

With sewer installation completed and approvals in place, vertical construction resumed. Work began on the building superstructure including structural steel erection, concrete slabs, and CMU block installation.

Nov 2022

Sewer Installation Begins

Contractor obtained street closure permit and began rock excavation for new sewer line installation on Amethyst Street. Installation expected to take 3-5 months, after which building construction can resume.

Oct 2022

Sewer Issue Resolution

After 26 months of negotiations with DEP, received final approval to install new 240-foot sewer line on Amethyst Street. This was required because the street lacks existing sewer infrastructure and connection through adjacent buildings was not permitted.

Sep 2021

Foundation Completed

Excavation of rock and building of foundation completed after 15 months. Excavated 18 feet below street level through hard rock, supported adjacent building foundations, and handled contaminated soil disposal per city regulations.

May 2020

COVID-19 Construction Halt

City stopped all construction work due to COVID-19 pandemic. Work resumed in June 2020.

Nov 2019

Foundation Contract Signed

Reviewed 6 different proposals and signed contract with best offer contractor for excavation and foundation work.

Jun 2019

Building Permit Obtained

Architect completed construction plans and submitted to Building Department. Received permit for excavation and foundation work.

Apr 2018

BSA Variances Approved

After 2+ years of legal process, obtained crucial variances from the Board of Standards and Appeals allowing construction of a larger building and change of use from residential to Place of Worship. Process required conceptual plans, environmental study, community need report, and traffic analysis.

Jan 2015

Demolition Complete

Completed tenant evacuation and demolition of the 2 buildings. Process included court orders, demolition plans and permitting.

Dec 2013

Land Acquisition

The land with 2 old houses was bought in the fall of 2013 and closing happened just before the end of 2013.
